Rachael Averett

Rachael Averett is the Director of Sales and Use Tax at Advantous Consulting, LLC, bringing more than 20 years of experience. Rachael oversees the technical and supervisory aspects of a broad portfolio of clients across multiple jurisdictions. Her areas of expertise include sales and use tax audit defense, reverse audits, compliance, and strategic planning and advisory services.

Rachael also works collaboratively with Advantous’ External Affairs team, supporting the firm’s business development, marketing, and government relations initiatives. She has built strong ties throughout the community and maintains valuable relationships with business and industry associations, as well as state and local officials.

Rachael graduated from Louisiana State University’s E. J. Ourso College of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance. Prior to joining Advantous, she gained valuable experience at a public accounting firm specializing in multi-state manufacturing clients. She later served for eleven years as a Director at an international tax consulting firm.

Rachael currently serves as Co-Chair of the planning committee for the Institute for Professionals in Taxation’s Annual Conference and was recently appointed by Governor Landry to represent the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI) on the Uniform Electronic Local Return and Remittance Advisory Committee. She is a member of the Council On State Taxation (COST), the Southeastern Association of Tax Administrators (SEATA), and the Louisiana Association of Tax Administrators (LATA), and is a Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (IPT). She has also presented for SEATA, COST, IPT, the Tax Executives Institute (TEI), and Lorman Education Services. Rachael also serves the Baton Rouge community through the efforts of the Advantous Community Service Team.
