Jimmy Leonard, MBA

Jimmy Leonard, MBA, Co-Owner and Partner of Advantous Consulting, has nearly 20 years’ experience specializing in state and local business incentives, sales/use taxes, and property taxes. Jimmy’s career began at the Lafayette Economic Development Authority, where he spent three years recruiting companies to locate and/or expand operations in Lafayette Parish, Louisiana. Jimmy was then hired by KPMG, in 1998, to start its Louisiana Business Incentives Group Practice. Jimmy spent over seven years at KPMG, assisting companies with identifying, negotiating, and securing Louisiana business incentives and providing sales/use tax and property tax services. During his tenure at KPMG, he held leadership roles such as Southwest Region Strategic Relocation and Expansion Service Practice Leader from 2001 through 2005, and Louisiana State and Local Tax Practice Leader from 2003 through 2005.

Jimmy has worked on projects totaling over $15 billion dollars of investment and secured over $500 million in bottom-line savings for clients. At Advantous, Jimmy oversees the technical and strategic aspects of the design and delivery of all business incentives, tax credit, sales/use tax, and property tax projects. Jimmy has a bachelor’s degree from Millsaps College and a Masters of Business Administration from Louisiana State University.
