Michael Ganier, CPA

Michael Ganier is a Senior Manager in Advantous’ Income and Franchise tax practice. He is a seasoned tax professional with extensive experience in multistate income and franchise tax, tax controversy, audit defense, and interstate transfer pricing. He brings a unique perspective shaped by his work with multiple tax authorities, including the states of Virginia and Louisiana, as well as the Internal Revenue Service’s Large Business & International Division.

Michael has significant experience evaluating complex corporate tax issues, including apportionment, intercompany transactions, audit risk, and settlement strategy. While with the Louisiana Department of Revenue, he spearheaded the state’s transfer pricing initiative, developing its audit methodology and approach to complex related-party transaction matters.

In his role as Senior Manager, Michael focuses on helping businesses navigate corporate income and franchise tax matters, manage multistate tax exposure, prepare for and respond to audits, and develop practical, defensible tax positions. His background in tax enforcement allows him to provide clients with insight into how taxing authorities evaluate issues and how businesses can proactively address tax risk.

He is known for his practical, analytical, and solutions-oriented approach, combining technical tax expertise with firsthand audit and controversy experience to help businesses address complex state tax matters with clarity and confidence.

Michael earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and is a licensed Texas Certified Public Accountant.
