Citing recent legislative changes pertaining to its tracking of sales tax revenue, the Louisiana Department of Revenue proposed a new rule in its August register which would require sales tax returns to be filed electronically for consolidated filers. This change would be effective for taxable periods beginning on or after December 1, 2021.
However, filers who are able to prove that electronic filing creates an undue burden for them may be exempt from complying with this mandate.
In response to this proposed rule, public comments will be accepted until September 29th, and a public hearing is set for September 30th. Click here to view the full August register.
