Jimmy Leonard
Co-Owner and Partner
Jimmy has been assisting companies with business incentive, sales/use tax, and property tax solutions for nearly 20 years. Prior to co-founding Advantous, he held dual leadership roles at KPMG as the Southwest Region Strategic Relocation and Expansion Service Practice Leader and KPMG’s Louisiana State and Local Tax Practice Leader. Prior to joining the KPMG team, Jimmy was the Executive Vice President of the Lafayette Economic Development Authority in charge of all business recruitment efforts. Jimmy has spent his entire professional career helping new and expanding businesses enter or expand into the Louisiana market successfully and reach their project’s financial goals.
Jimmy oversees the technical and strategic aspects of the design and delivery of all business incentive, tax credit, sales/use tax, and property tax projects. Jimmy has a bachelor’s degree from Millsaps College and a Masters of Business Administration from Louisiana State University.
Jason DeCuir
Co-Owner and Partner
Jason, a national expert in the field of state and local tax policy, has been practicing in this arena for over 20 years. Jason has been representing businesses across all industry sectors related to complex tax matters and he is also one of the state’s foremost policy experts within the walls of the State Capitol, advocating for sound tax policy ideas and reforms. Prior to joining Advantous as co-owner and partner, Jason represented industry sectors nationally in the areas of tax dispute, public policy, regulatory and legislative affairs. He began his career practicing as a tax attorney and spent three years at the Louisiana Department of Revenue as a gubernatorial appointee, where he spearheaded tax reform efforts and was responsible for the Office of Legal Affairs, Policy and Legislative Services and the Criminal Investigation Division.
Jason heads the governmental affairs and relations services and oversees business development. Jason holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Howard University, a Master of Business Administration from Louisiana Tech University, a Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Civil Law from the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center and a Master of Law in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center.
