Gerald Byrd

Gerald Byrd is an accomplished dual Credits & Incentives and Property Tax Advisor with a proven record of securing impactful tax savings and driving successful public‑private partnerships. Over the course of his career, he has gained deep expertise at leading global firms including Ryan, Kroll (formerly Duff & Phelps), and most recently Ernst & Young (EY), where he advised on complex, high‑value developments across a wide range of industries.

Gerald has represented multi‑billion‑dollar projects spanning Advanced Manufacturing, Data Centers, Healthcare, and Natural & Renewable Energy. His strategic negotiation and analysis have contributed to the procurement of more than $100 million in collective tax savings for his clients. Specializing in upfront, negotiated discretionary incentives and state tax credits, he has presented numerous prospective developments in public forums across state and local jurisdictions—effectively communicating both the operational scope of each project and its anticipated community impact, including effects on property tax, sales tax, and payroll.

As a registered Property Tax Consultant in Texas, Gerald bridges the traditionally siloed service lines of Credits & Incentives and Property Tax. His dual expertise enables him to deliver a holistic, integrated approach that enhances project outcomes and provides clients with a comprehensive understanding of their total tax position.
Gerald began his career in the oil industry before choosing to further his education, ultimately earning his BBA in Accounting from Texas State University. This combination of hands-on industry experience and formal accounting training equips him with a uniquely versatile perspective—one that supports practical, results-driven advisory while strengthening collaboration between private developers and public entities.

Gerald is committed to helping organizations navigate complex tax landscapes, optimize incentive opportunities, and build stronger, mutually beneficial relationships with the communities in which they operate.

Outside of his professional work, Gerald enjoys staying active through powerlifting, golf, and tennis, and he loves taking his 13‑year‑old boxer mix, Miley, on long walks. In 2026, Gerald moved back to his hometown of Houston, Texas, and now works out of Advantous’s Houston office. Prior to his return home, he spent 10 years living and working in Austin, keeping close proximity to the Governor’s Office and the Texas Comptroller to better facilitate relationships between state officials and the clients he represents.
